We were asked to develop a custom press to create ice shaped like the tahona stone used in the manufacture of tequila. At the same time we had to create a special mold that would freeze clear ice pucks to be used in the press.
When the blank pucks are placed in the press, the weight of the top and the slightly-warmer-than-ice metal melts the ice to shape. Also shown are the double ice press, the mold to create the clear ice blanks and an early 3D printed sample.
